How to pamper yourself at home
If you have a few hours when you have the house to yourself and some free time, these simple pamper ideas may just be what you need to have you feeling relaxed as ever. And don’t get worried when you see “exercise” in the process – I promise this is about pampering for relaxation.
Before you get right into it, try to start the day off in a positive state of mind, using positive affirmations. If you meditate, that’s always a good idea. After all, relaxation is not just about pampering your body but its also about calming the mind.
Another thing I love doing is starting my day with a healthy meal or a nutritional shake to fuel my body right and just to have the best start to the day. I don’t always do this thanks to a busy schedule, but it’s so worth the effort of making a delicious, healthy breakfast and start your day right. We all know we should try to do this every day but for most of us, it doesn’t always happen.
Ditch the expensive massage and try a conditioning workout like Pilates or a yoga session. It may not sound like it but not all exercise will have you huffing and puffing. Exercises like Pilates and yoga stretch, increase blood supply to muscles (hello, basically in the same way a massage relaxes you). If you don’t have a fitness membership that includes Yoga or Pilates, there are some great free classes on YouTube you can try out.
Light up your favourite scented candle to fill your bathroom and home with a beautiful aroma. I usually go for a light vanilla scent or something like this.
Make a cool refreshing drink like lemon water. Or a hot cup of herbal tea (green tea or peppermint tea perhaps). And you’re ready to go.
Apply hair mask to your tresses and wrap it up with a cling/plastic wrap. You can do a DIY like these ones. Or get one right here.
Whip up a homemade facial mask.
If you don’t have time to whip one up, go for a natural face mask like this Dead Sea Mud Mask and you’re all set.
Do a foot soak.
Scrub your feet with a scrub then soak in a warm foot spa. You can use a foot spa like this one.
Take a hot bath.
Set the music and grab your book or magazine. Try aromatherapy bath bombs for an even more relaxing effect.
Make a lemon sugar body scrub.
Make an invigorating lemon sugar scrub for a pre-shower scrub that will leave your skin soft and supple, and a healthy glow. I love this homemade lemon scrub from Everyday Roots http://everydayroots.com/homemade-body-scrub-recipe the recipe has Epsom salt which is a natural mineral with many benefits for relaxation. You can also use sugar as a substitute for Epsom salt. Another reason I love this scrub is the smell of lemon!
Finish off with a mani-pedi. This step by step guide to a mani-pedi from Total Beauty is helpful if you don’t normally do your nails at home.
